The Talos Principle is a first-person 3D puzzle game, remade for VR devices and available for non-VR devices. In it, you awaken from what seems to be a deep sleep, and are tasked by your Creator with solving puzzles in an unfamiliar and contradictory world, seemingly fantastical yet filled with technology.
The Principles Of Reality, Laid Bare
Without spoiling too much, in The Talos Principle you will explore a world full of mysteries as you climb ever-higher in a tower, guided by your creator through bleak, old-looking text terminals. The game mixes mythological and religious themes with cold sci-fi technology, and it works well. The game's VR support is significant, as well: though the default controls had a few hiccups in our testing, they are highly customizable and can be made to support many different graphical and movement styles. In particular, the game supports both full-motion and "teleport" styles of camera panning.
It Measures Up, And Hopefully You Will, Too
Not much has changed since The Talos Principle's initial release, however: the game is hard, and though it provides a few ways to avoid this, the puzzles are overall very challenging. The Talos Principle is a game to experience if you love both hard puzzles and mysterious stories.
